With so many Bach cycles, finely played on historic or modern organs, Priory has been able to provide a snapshot of his music played on cathedral organs which so ably demonstrate his music. Here from Liverpool we hear for the first time in a recording featuring both Willis organs in the cathedral. The main organ played by Ian Tracey and the little gem in the Lady Chapel played by David Poulter. The contrasts are obvious and this CD is revealing in listening to Bach’s music in “tubby” form on the grand instrument and “slim”form from the Lady Chapel.

"This valuable CD offers a unique conspectus of the two organs in Liverpool Cathedral and as such is warmly recommended. What makes this CD the more valuable are two factors: the first is that Neil Collier has managed to capture the sound of  the Grand Organ within the cathedral's notorious 9-12 second echo and the second is that this is the first opportunity of hearing both the Lady Chapel organ and Grand organ together on one CD. The playing and individual playing registrations of both of these gifted artists are exemplary."   Robert Matthew-Walker The Organ.

"Ian Tracey and David Poulter make a fine effort here with a well balanced programme. Priory have captured the character of the Grand Organ amazingly well with excellent clarity in the huge acoustics. A fine recording of both organs in this monumental building."  Douglas Hollick - Choir and Organ.
