Konstantin Volostnov is the latest St.Albans International Organ Competition winner adding this prize to his already extensive achievements. For this recording he chose the famous and fine organ in Riga’s Cathedral. The imposing instrument dominates the west end and is one of the largest in Europe. For his programme, Volostnov plays music from Bach to the mid 20thcentury in a programme that will be of interest to organ collectors and buffs alike with most of the music being new to the catalogues.
"this CD provides the perfect timbre for 90% of the disc which is fascinating and beautifully wrought music....the result is that we have yet another important recording of a vital yet little-known instrument of fine European provenance. (Organist's Review)
"Volostnov plays with authority and panache and is to be commended for bringing this rarely played music to a wider audience." (Choir and Organ)
"the programme notes are highly informative....Neil Collier should be congratulated on this enterprising project of of building a massive recorded archive of some of the finest organs throughout Europe." David Thorne - Cathedral Music
