This triumphant series continues from the great Michaeliskirche is Hamburg and features four lesser known works including the Op.145 – Music for Organ. Karg-Elert was perhaps the greatest German composer since Bach and this series is the first collection of his complete works for the organ which reaches its 13th volume.
Reviewing our last volume PRCD 1088 from Landau, Choir and Organ magazine said ".....this series will surely stand as the greatest project the gramophone has achieved in organ music for very many years....the Partita, masterpiece receives here a quite splendid performance from Stefan Engels and the whole disc is superbly recorded. One must also commend the extensive and highly informative booklet....this CD is a very fine addition to the discography of Sigfrid Karg-Elert.
Reviewing this CD, Michael Quinn from Choir and Organ said..."Volume 13 in Priory's Herculean Karg-Elert survey reaches into neglected nooks and crannies with three rarely recorded pieces...solid performances abetted by excellent booklet notes.
Reviewing this CD, Nicholas Johnson from Organists Review said ....A CD recording to be heartily recommended, a very fine release by Priory, who capture the organ and acoustic to very fine effect throughout. Full marks to Priory for an excellent CD capturing performer and organ at their finest."
